Overview
Grand Blue is definitely one of the more humorous Anime adaptions out there, and although the story doesn’t really have much substance and doesn’t stand up on its own without the jokes it was still very entertaining to watch all the way through.

Everything from the crazy faces the characters were pulling to the beauty contest scene had me laughing my face off. And I am not amused easily.
Personally, I can’t wait for a Grand Blue Season 2 release date, because I honestly mean it when I say it’s one of the funniest anime I’ve seen so far.
So what makes this series so funny? And why is it so popular among fans?
Well to start off with, it’s illustrated in a very nice form, and I love the way it’s drawn in general, but does that make it a subjectively good series?
In my opinion, this is just one of the many reasons I love this series and I will be explaining why a Grand Blue Season 2 release date is possible and likely in this post.
The first season of Grand Blue was released in 2018 and a season 2 is well on the way we think.
Unfortunately, the story of Grand Blue wasn’t as engaging as you might think, it revolves around diving and a diving school in particular.
But what makes this anime so significant and what makes it stand out from other similar anime? I would say the way the jokes are set up and the manor they are executed in.
Take the beauty contest scene for example, (if you’ve watched Grand Blue you’ll know what I mean) that was one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen in an anime, and that’s saying something. If you haven’t already watched it, I fully recommend you do.
General Narrative of Grand Blue Dreaming
The general story of Grand Blue revolves mainly around a diving school in Japan. This is where we are introduced to our main character Lori Kitahara. Lori is a Japanese student who wants to start diving.
Lori meets another man at the school called Kouhei Imamura, and the two meet each other and become friends.
And the rest of the story is based roughly around the escapades of both Lori and Kouhei and that’s the main story.
Doesn’t sound very interesting at the start but once you get into it you’ll realise why this is such a good anime. The comedy aspect of Grand Blue ties it all together, and the characters in this series are used very effectively to create atmosphere and comedic value.
https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4474055489327117 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Although the series tries to show us the relationship between Lori and another woman who is also at the diving school, Chisa Kotegawa. It’s shown in the series that
Chisa is a conventionally attractive woman in the series and she always has an eye for who is interested in her, although it’s revealed later, that her main interest is in diving, and this is where all the characters can set aside their differences and be unified.
But aside from this, the main story of Grand Blue is what’s been said above, and that’s all you really need to know. I like the way the series opens up different characters to the world of diving, and the way they did this very much entertained me. However, it’s the comedy in the show that keeps it all together.
Main Characters
Here are some of the main characters of Grand Blue, we hope you find these short character insights interesting. These are all characters that will show up in Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2.
Lori Kituhara
First off is Lori Kituhara, a student who has decided to go to the diving school in Japan. He has conventional views on women, sex and work, and enjoys drinking alcohol.

In my opinion, Lori seems to be quite a simple and level-headed individual, he wants only what is in front of him, and has a good heart.
However, his stupidity is something that persists throughout the series and this is the defining characteristic about Lori that many love.
He doesn’t seem to be first at all that interested in diving and it is only until Chisa shows him the benefits that he truly realises he enjoys it.
Chisa Kotegawa
Next is Chisa Kotegawa who also goes to the same diving school as Lori in Japan. At first glance, Chisa appears to be a quiet/shy individual who doesn’t express her emotions publicly.

She often runs off when faced with situations that some may find difficult or awkward. Like Lori, she is an enjoyable character but can be a bit boring at times in my opinion.
It is revealed however that her main interest isn’t in the opposite sex or anything else but solely in diving, and it is shown that she is very committed and dedicated to diving.
She even expresses her love for diving to Lori, and this is what makes him overcome his fear of the water. Chisa will be vital in a Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2 and will re-appear for sure.
Kouhei Immuhara
Last but not least is Kouhei Immuhara who is friends with Lori, although they seem to argue a lot of the time. In terms of a narrative POV, Kouhei helps Lori on many of his escapades and is sometimes the one who starts them.

He also works as a rebound between the two, and although they argue all the time, sometimes continually, they seem to support each other to make both their goals work in the end.
Kouhei is a very enjoyable and funny character, especially when he is included with Lori, and this makes the two a great comedic duo.
Sub Characters
Here are some of the sub-characters from this Anime. Each of them was very unique and it can be said that they are just as funny as each other. If we follow the Manga that this Anime is adapted from, many of these characters like Kotegawa and Yoshiwara will certainly appear in the next season.
In my opinion, there isn’t much that defines the characters or makes them interesting, it’s more that interact with each other which makes them funny and then interesting.
We see that Kouhei always tries to be logical about situations yet he sometimes ends up being the one who starts an argument.
You don’t have to like the story of Grand Blue to enjoy it though, I can promise you that, its comedic value is enough.
Will there be a Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2?
A user (who we refuse to name because of their obscene name) claimed on the forum site Reddit claimed in a now-deleted post that production for season 2 had begun.
The user also stated that a popular user associated with Grand Blue and in particular the Anime, had talked about the possibility of Grand Blue Season 2 on his blog.
However just like we said in the introductory paragraph of this article, we are, and have been, going over if it’s likely or not that the series will return for another run.
And therefore, we can’t say for certain that another season is on the way. We are not claiming there will be a second season for sure. This is much in contrast to the ridiculous rants & fact-free theories we’ve observed from users who simply, in my opinion, have too much time on their hands.
We still have many arguments on both sides as to why a season 2 is not such a distant reality. So let’s look into more points to discuss Grand Blue Season 2 release date and more.
The user who claimed, that this year, Zero-G (the production company of the original anime adaptation) announced that they would be ceasing or delaying production or release of the second anime adaption of Grand Blue due to the COVID-19 situation, raises questions as to why many fans are so hopeful of a season 2 and why there are so many articles and forum post related to the subject?
https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4474055489327117 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});At the moment we can’t verify if this is a good source, although the user has over 40,000 Reddit Karma and has been on the platform for quite some time.
While it would be great to know if a season 2 is coming, it’s a shame that we will have to wait.
They also seem to speak with high authority and what showed itself as unsubtle ignorance with regards to not only the Anime but other aspects of Grand Blue.
If Grand Blue Season 2 release date is likely & when will Grand Blue Season 2 air?
Another thing the 40,000 + Reddit Karma users referred to was a supposed announcement from Zero-G that claimed the official season 2 of Grand Blue would be aired in the middle of 2020, during either the month of June or July, but it’s 2020 now, so unless it comes out soon, it doesn’t look good.
They have also cited in a now-deleted post that a couple of weeks ago Zero-G released a statement saying that production and therefore the release time for the second season of Grand Blue would be delayed due to the COVID-19 situation.

We cannot say for sure at all if this is true or worthy of consideration, but if there is anything to it, an announcement to do with Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2 would solidify the authenticity of the post, were it to be an accurate insight into the possibility of a Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2.
According to WhenWill.Net Grand Blue had a large Search volume and good but not great social media traction on Twitter. We also think it’s likely that the Anime gets pirated. This is what they said:
“Grand Blue, which gained new viewers every day even over the years after its first release, ranked 256th on the Myanimelist’s popularity ranking. The anime has a Twitter page followed by 43k people. Although it is not a successful social media popularity in Japan, still there is a strong Google search volume about anime. Considering the current popularity, a second season may be successful in viewership. Creators can evaluate the current popularity and take action for a second season.“
Another element to raise is that Grand Blue did not sell very well in terms of Disk profit. It was released in 2018, many people watch Grand Blue on streaming platforms legal and illegal. If it’s a success is evaluated maybe another season is not such a long shot.
Furthermore, according to online sites like scoopbyte.com, various petitions have been filed requesting Zero-G to release the second season.
https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4474055489327117 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Many fans of Grand Blue were very quick to point out another fact the Manga got a live-action adaption. They imply that this spells the end for Grand Blue. However, a point to raise would be that Kaguya Sama got a second season after its live-action.
Grand Blue has also been brought by Amazon Prime, you can view Gran Blue on Amazon here. This is a great indicator that the series is of interest to a huge streaming giant. This will all add to Grand Blues revenue. A particular user we came across, was very determined to discourage us from even entertaining the idea of a season 2. One user also said.
“More likely release an anime adaption of its sister series, Temple, than a 2nd season of Grand Blue will be made.”
Conclusion – Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
The pandemic is still impacting countries such as the USA and Brazil right now, but it seems that Japan is fairing well with the virus. Therefore, you could speculate the second consecutive season of Grand Blue to be aired either late in 2025 or 2026 such as October for example, or early in 2025, probably in January.
This is still quite a while away, and we can only anticipate a Grand Blue Season 2 release date. So, just like all the other fans, we will have to wait. Although it cannot be said certainly, this Anime will get another season.

I like how the article mentions that some other studio could be doing it while also saying the production may have started as soon as 2018 and Zero-G has announced they are making it according to some random Reddit user.
At least provide a source for such announcement or edit your article to have actual facts on the matter so people don’t end up believing this is correct.
Their are no news about Grand Blue other than these type of blog posts on the internet which all got no sources. since anime is about promoting source material they rarely get more than 1 season. Most animes gets another season fairly quickly after previous one (or a movie if they go that route), its has been almost 4 years now for Grand Blue so ods are really not in favor of another season happening.
Inb4 this comment is deleted and the release date are pushed even further into the because season 2 didn’t release at those dates (I would even think at some point this blog post had earleier dates).
further into the future* (annoying i can’t edit my comment, such a dumb mistaken for missing 1 word)
Looks like you were wrong.
