Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (1 Series, 10 Episodes)
You may already be familiar with the Pretty Little Liars franchise, which previously followed a small group of girls who have to deal with their leader, or “Queen Bee” disappearing. This show however, is a spin-off of the main franchise and follows on from a similar premise to the original. The English (1 Series, 6 Episodes)
Now, on the other side of the world, there is a great drama set in the 1890s America, which follows two strangers now joined together through violence and bloodshed. Set in Oklahoma in 1890, this gritty drama follows Pawnee scout Eli Whipp, who has just been released from long-term Army service. The show has gotten pretty decent reviews so far, so this would indicate it is quite popular with viewers. So what is it really about?
Well, the story follows a man known as Eli Whipp, who is looking to claim his birthright when he crosses paths with Cornelia Locke. They start to journey through mid-America in the 1800s. Soon it’s revealed that Cornelia is searching for David Melmont, a man who was working for her lover and who was complicit in the mass murder of a native American populated village, which Eli witnessed taking place. The show features a spectacular ending, making it one of the best new dramas on BBC. Starring Chaske Spencer, Emily Blunt, Rafe Spall and more
SAS Rogue Heroes (1 Series, 6 Episodes)
Being from England myself, I had been notified of this show a number of times by a few different friends. This drew me to check it out. A decision I’m not regretting at all. SAS Rogue Heroes follows two British military soldiers, who are being fed up with the actions of their superiors, decide to hatch a plan to parachute soldiers into the desert behind enemy lines to attack important positions.
Set in the 1940s and featuring Jack O’Connell, Dominic West, Alfie Allen and more, this World War 2 series, follows the story of these soldiers and how they came together to stop a defeat at the hands of Erwin Rommel & the Wehrmacht. This story offers some great scenes and acting for you to enjoy, not to mention a great plot, so why not give one of these new dramas on BBC a go, you may really enjoy it.
Señorita 89 (1 Series, 8 Episodes)
Now if war-time heroes from the dessert aren’t your thing, then maybe you might want to check out Señorita 89, which follows 32 contestants as they compete in the Miss Mexico pageant. In order to be part of the competition, the girls (as the pageant officials refer to them) have to complete training and publicity programs at the pageant organizer’s massive estate, La Encantada. This is certainly one of the best new dramas on BBC iPlayer to watch right now.

Tokyo Vice (1 Series, 8 Episodes)
Tokyo Vice is one of the more high end new dramas on BBC, being centred in Japan, this show follows Jake Adelstein, an US journalist who is hired by Tokyo newspaper Meicho Shimbun. He covers the crime section and soon realises that journalists shouldn’t ask too many questions. After taking a Japanese writing exam to qualify him for the newspaper, he succeeds and becomes their first foreign-born journalist and starts at the very bottom of the paper.
Set in 1999, the series details Jack’s life as a reporter in Tokyo, and shows how he slowly starts to explore Tokyo’s underworld, filled with corruption, drugs, violence, and sex. Now taken under the wing of a veteran detective in the vice squad, he starts to explore the dark and dangerous world of the Japanese Yakuza.
