Some of these don’t even try to make you cry, some are intentionally, and some are both. In this article, we will go over some Anime that will make you cry, according to Quora Users. Naruto: Shippuden
Some people argue this is the best Anime out there, and they may not be wrong. Naruto certainly is one of the most popular and well-known Anime that are available at the moment. It’s also one of the most well-known Anime internationally.
The Animes first season is centred around a young boy who has a Kyuubi inside him and this is the reason why everyone in his village detests him and calls him a monster kid. According to the Quora user Megha Sharma, the Anime has some very serious moments in it, and this Anime will make you cry.
Clannad
Now I’ve seen Clannad and it is certainly a very sad Anime, I have moved to tears myself after finishing it and it really is a great Anime that toys with your emotions and makes you wonder why this world can be so cruel. The ending of this Anime is definitely one of the most moving and emotional things that Anime has to offer and this is one of the best Sad Anime because it has over 25 Episodes.
Your Lie in April
We’ve briefly covered this Anime before on our Top 25 Romance Anime to Watch on Netflix article, and for a good reason, this Anime is great! Good Anime, great characters, nice animation and of course, some moving scenes as well. This Anime that will make you cry follows the story of a boy who, after his mother dies, meets a girl who plays the violin. He loses his will to play the piano after his mother’s death. You should certainly give this Sad Anime a go because we are sure you won’t regret it.
Witch Blade
This Anime that will make you cry is more of a romance/sci-fi Anime, but the final episode certainly will bring you to tears. The Anime follows Sara Pezzini, an NYPD homicide detective who comes into possession of the Witchblade, a supernatural, sentient gauntlet that bonds with a female host and provides her with a variety of powers in order to fight supernatural evil. Give this sad Anime a go and see for yourself.
A Silent Voice

Code Geass
Set in an alternate timeline, it follows the exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia, who obtains the “power of absolute obedience” from a mysterious woman named C.C. Using this supernatural power, known as Geass, he leads a rebellion against the rule of the Holy Britannian Empire, commanding a series of mecha battles. This Anime that will make you cry has some horrible death scenes in it which are quite upsetting, including two main characters, that’s why we decided to include it on this list.
Death Note
I’ve been meaning to cover this Anime for a long time now, and the fact that it isn’t on any major streaming platforms makes it really hard to find nowadays. I’m referring to the Anime that came out in 2006 and has been very popular ever since. (A cool side-note is that the voice actor who plays the main character, also is the voice actor for Rock from Black Lagoon).
Anyway, the Anime follows Light Yagami, who is a normal, undistinguished college student — that is, until he discovers an odd notebook lying on the ground. He soon discovers that the notebook has magic powers: If someone’s name is written on it while the writer imagines that person’s face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike power, Light kills those he deems unworthy of life.
Josee the Tiger and the Fish
Tsuneo is a university student, and Josee is a young girl who has rarely gone out of the house by herself due to her being unable to walk. The two meet when Tsuneo finds Josee’s grandmother taking her out for a morning walk. This Anime came out in 2020 and was certainly a good movie to watch during the lockdown. It’s a good Sad Anime and we suggest you give it a go.
Hotaru No Mori e
One user spoke at great lengths about how this Anime made them cry, and that is why it’s on this list. The Anime tells the story of a young girl named Hotaru and her friendship with Gin, a strange young man wearing a mask, who she meets at the age of six in a mountain forest near her grandfather’s country home. This Anime that will make you cry is a great choice for normal fans of Anime and we recommend it.
