In London, nitrous oxide and balloons have become a familiar sight, forming part of the subculture in the capital and across other English cities. The gas, inhaled through cream chargers, balloons, or directly from a canister, deprives the brain of oxygen and produces a brief euphoric high lasting around 40 seconds. Users often experience dizziness and light-headedness, with some even inhaling it while driving or walking in public.

A recent video from London captures the aftermath of an attack on a car, with members of the public using a Smartwhip canister to smash the vehicle.

In the shocking footage, several men swarm the car, some climbing on top and jumping up and down as others batter it from the sides. The chaotic scene unfolded in full view of passers-by and was recorded on camera.

As with many of these viral clips, it remains unclear who was in the car, who was being targeted, or what sparked the violence. What is clear, however, is the anger among the crowd.

Many appeared to be agitated, possibly because the driver had collided with them, acted recklessly, or been involved in some kind of altercation. Ultimately, the exact reason remains unknown.

The incident highlights how nitrous oxide and its culture are increasingly tied to antisocial behaviour.

Once seen primarily as a party drug, its casual use in public spaces has become a growing concern, with balloons and discarded canisters now a common sight on the streets.

The combination of intoxication, recklessness, and confrontation can lead to volatile situations such as the one caught on film—turning a seemingly ordinary evening into a dangerous spectacle.
