League of Legends professional player, IG Leyan of Invictus Gaming, has been handed a significant penalty by the LPL (League of Legends Pro League) following inappropriate actions during a live co-stream with a female streamer. The incident, which involved suggestive behaviour with a stuffed toy, led to widespread criticism and a substantial fine.

Riot Games is known for enforcing strict behavioural guidelines for its professional players.

While fines for misconduct during broadcasts or even for “trash talk” in competitive play are not uncommon, penalties for inappropriate actions of this nature are rare.

Leyan, a member of Invictus Gaming, was fined approximately $7,000 (50,000 CNY) for his behaviour, and the LPL also issued a two-match suspension. In addition, Invictus Gaming received a separate fine of $2,700 (20,000 CNY).

In an official statement, the LPL explained that Leyan had violated regulations with his words and actions, leading to a “morally controversial incident” that negatively impacted the community.

The incident in question, captured on a stream, showed Leyan simulating sexually suggestive acts with a plush toy, an act made worse by the fact that it occurred during a joint stream with a female host.

Invictus Gaming controversey continued

The controversy did not end there. Leyan also made a bet with the streamer, stating that he would vape on the LPL stage if he lost their competition.

Since vaping is strictly prohibited on the professional League of Legends stage—a rule reinforced by Team WE’s FoFo being banned for similar behaviour—this added another layer of controversy to the situation.

Fans have pointed out that this is not Leyan’s first run-in with disciplinary actions. In 2020, he was suspended from several tournaments and matches for exploiting bugs in solo-ranked play, which had previously drawn criticism.

Although Invictus Gaming did not qualify for the MSI Invitational, they made headlines during the LPL Spring Split 2024 as the only team to defeat the top-seeded Bilibili Gaming. However, Leyan’s ban has overshadowed this achievement, with some fans commenting that his suspension has attracted more attention than his team’s significant victory.
