Commander Pain: When Laziness Meets Consistency

When you open up reels and browse the explore page it’s hard not to get sucked in, and frankly, I try my best to avoid it. Now and then however you’ll get a few videos on your feed which make you groan with annoyance and frustration. One of these accounts (Commander Pain Instagram) I’ve noted popping up in my feed is one of these under-panel react videos which basically feature a video on one hand of the screen at the top and then the person on the bottom, usually showing their upper body. There are many of these accounts around but this one has bothered me enough to write an article, and in this insight into this content strategy, I’ll show you just why Commander Pain is one of the most lazy creators on the platform.

Commander Pain’s account

His account is incredibly simple and boring simultaneously. All he does is steal memes, videos and clips from other accounts and add them above a video of him with a beanie on, doing nothing. That’s it.

An overview of the Commander Pain Instagram account

Yeah, as you can see, he takes one video and then reuses it about 30 times.

Why does this bother me so much? it’s because he doesn’t even bother to change the background video sometimes. He just reuses the same video again and again.

There’s no originality to his content, his format is stolen, the memes and other content are stolen and the only thing real is his face.

So why do so many accounts like this exist? What is it with this stupid boring and effortless account, spam posting this bullshit on my Instagram Explore page and why does Instagram even push this.

Sometimes Commander Pain doesn’t wear a hat, sometimes he wears a beanie or a cap. That is about as much variation with his content as you’re going to get.

Hopefully, accounts like Commander Pain’s don’t get pushed any further, because the last thing we would want is someone like this to start making lots of money off his account.

However, this seems unlikely, as he has very low engagement per video, with some of the comments undoubtedly being fake.

I’m also starting to think he reuses the same videos more than 30 times. It’s more like 60 times per video, a testament to Commander Pain’s laziness.
