When you think of drill music Gloucestershire is one of the last places you think of. But with the release of a few hit songs on TikTok and YouTube, here are 7 Bristol drill tracks to save to your playlist.
This year we’ve seen the release of many different and prominent drill songs from the county, primarily from the lower-class sections of Bristol estates, with different rural and urban gangs joining in and producing many catchy songs.
7. Unknown R – Whomper Stompers (Bristol Back Slang)
At number 7 on our list and kickstarting this endeavour into West Country Drill music is a great tune by Unknown R titled “Whomper Stompers”
Referring to the violent action of a head stomping someone, this drill track features an interesting but familiar flow with a funny west country accent accompanying it.

The song details tales of running enemy gang members down and how they are “shook” – with a reference to “shiver me timbers” even present in one of the bars.
6. MXGGIE – #PlugTalk – [S2 – EP. 3]
Our second track on this list of Bristol drill music is MXGGIE’s appearance on TooPluggyEnt via YouTube.
In a dark room and surrounded by fellow members, this drill rapper raps with a fast flow and familiar drill lyrics.
Only released in 2023, it has all the hallmarks of a common West Country drill song but with the faster flow of a London rapper drill tune. Make sure to add this one to your playlist.
Comments included: ““had bossman screaming alow it na I won’t alow a thing” as well as “Mxggie Fire tune” – this suggested many fans liked the video and found it relatable.
5. Splash A1 – Culture Freestyle Ep.13
Another freestyle on this list of the top Bristol drill tracks is Splash A1s Culture Free Style, Episode 13.
Shot in a dingy backyard, this hard-core turn features crazy 808 beats which reach through the speakers, sometimes minimising the rapper’s vocals.
This doesn’t have a bad effect and the song is still very enjoyable. The voice of Splash A1 on this Gloucestershire drill sounds very good.
4. YM- #PlugTalk – [S2 – EP. 1]
Another catchy tune from the West Country is YM’s appearance on #PlugTalk – [S2 – EP. 1].
The accent is strong on this video and it just bangs, it’s authentic and raw, and is a breath of fresh air given everything we’ve been getting lately.
“Oh-oh-oh-oh dear” – haha, compared to some Irish drill songs I’ve heard this really is not that bad. You’ll want to add this to your playlist for sure.
2. #Loadin – RCorLowkey x YM
Our 2nd to last insert from this West Country Drill list is of course RCorLowkey’s x YM’s #Loadin video uploaded to YouTube.
With fast catchy beat and great lyrics, all three artists deliver, making for a great Bristol drill song.
1. Unknown R – #Impulsive
Coming in at number 1, is of course Impulsive, by Unknown R, this is the first Gloucestershire drill song I heard, sticking with me from the beginning, and let me tell you, it’s quite funny to listen, if not completely authentic.
You see far too often we see artists from different areas around England neglecting their original accents to try and sound more southern, or like they are from Greater London.
Unknown R sticks to his original west country Gloucestershire accent and this makes the song all the more enjoyable.
Make sure you give this Bristol drill a listen to, as it really is the staple mark of this type of music.
