My Happy Marriage has become everyone’s new favourite romance anime, and there are many reasons behind that. Firstly, the anime has beautiful artwork and animation, the soundtrack is excellent, the story is intriguing as it mixes romance with the supernatural genre, and most importantly, all My Happy Marriage characters are unique and have a special role in building the plot.
We’re all excited for My Happy Marriage season 2, scheduled for release on January 6, 2025. But before that, let’s recap the My Happy Marriage characters revealed in season 1.
Main Characters
Miyo Saimori
Miyo Saimori is the 19-year-old female protagonist of My Happy Marriage. Despite being born into a wealthy family, her stepmother and step-sister treat Miyo worse than a servant. She’s deemed useless by her father because she lacks supernatural powers.

Kiyoka Kudo
Kiyoka Kudo is the male protagonist of the series and Miyo’s love interest. He’s the head of the powerful Kudou family and the leader of the Special Anti-Grotesquerie Unit.
Kiyoka is known for his cruelty, and his fiancée break off the marriage in only three days. However, Kiyoka falls in love with Miyo and becomes the kindest person for her. Kiyoka is the dream man for many women, as he protects his lover and emotionally heals her. Plus, his loving side is only for Miyo.
The Evils Amongst My Happy Marriage Characters
Kanoko Saimori
Kanoko is the stepmother of Miyo. She mistreated Miyo throughout her life because she despised her for being the daughter of Sumi, her love rival for Shinichi Saimori.
She’s a selfish person who blames Miyo for everything and is even involved in her kidnapping. Karma bites back as after the abduction, Saimori’s house burns down, and Kanoko is forced to move to the countryside and live with no money.
Kaya Saimori
She is Miyo’s selfish step-sister, and she hates her. Kaya is a spoiled brat who is disrespectful to others. She has always made Miyo’s life miserable and does everything to prevent her from being happy. She even marries Kouji despite knowing Miyo liked him.
When Kaya discovers that Kiyoka is so handsome, she gets jealous and wishes to marry Kiyoka instead. Kaya has the supernatural gift of Spirit-Sight, which allows her to see the Grotesquerie and spy on others through origami.
Shinichi Saimori
He was the head of the Saimori household and the father of Miyo and Kaya Saimori. Unlike Miyo, he was a cold-hearted man who only loved Kaya because she possessed the Saimori’s supernatural ability of Spirit-Sight.
He never cared about Miyo and disregarded the horrible actions his wife and daughter were doing with Miyo.
The Wannabe Main-Character
Arata Tsuruki
Arata Tsuruki is the Usuba family’s heir and Miyo Saimori’s cousin. Arata seems friendly but is apathetic and will go to any extent to protect his family.
Arata is blessed with the gift of illusions, which he uses to defeat Kiyoka in a duel.

Arata wants to protect Miyo, as she’s the sole Dream-Sight user of the family, which makes her very important.
The Supporting My Happy Marriage Characters
Yurie
Yurie is a servant in the Kudou family. She’s a kind-hearted old lady who cares for Miyo and helps her settle into the household.
Keiko
Keiko owns a Kimono shop that has served the Kudou family for many years. She’s known Kiyoka since he was a little boy and perfectly knows his choice. She’s Miyo and quickly realizes that Kiyoka cares for her.
Yoshito Godou
Yoshito works under Kiyoka at the Special Anti-Grotesquerie Unit. He’s talented, has strong supernatural abilities and is the funniest character in the series.
He often jokes with Kiyoka, which makes him angrier. But he always has Kiyoka’s and is someone whom he deeply trusts.
Hana
Hana used to work with the Saimori family and was the only one who stood up for Miyo, which caused her to be fired.
Hana later meets Miyo at the Kudou household and lives happily with her husband, who has a child.
Hazuki Kudou
Hazuki Kudō is one of the kindest My Happy Marriage characters. She’s the beautiful sister of Kiyoka Kudo and the oldest daughter of the Kudou family, who is gifted with healing powers.

She has a son with him, Asahi Ookaito. Hazuki plays a critical role in training Miyo to become a representative of society, so the two share a loving bond with each other.
Masashi Ookaito
Masahi is the ex-husband of Hazuki Kudo and is a Major General in the army.
Takaihito
Takaihito is the Emperor’s second son and the successor to the throne. He’s a calm, kind person who despises the atrocities committed by his father against Miyo and the Usuba family.
He is gifted with the abilities of Spirit-Sight and Divine Revelation. Takaihito sympathizes with Kiyoka and Miyo and helps with his knowledge and skills.
Kazushi Tatsuishi
Kazushi Tatsushi is the eldest son of Minoru Tatsuishi and the head of the Tatsuishi household.
Kazushi has an easygoing, carefree personality but can be serious when needed.
Kouji Tatsuishi
Kouji Tatsuishi is the second son of the Tatsuishi household. Kouji was Miyo’s only friend as a child, and he loved her, but his marriage was fixed with Kaya instead. Kouji must dare fight for Miyo by standing up against the Saimori for their brutalities.

Minoru Tatsuishi
He is the former head of the Mitsubishi family. He’s a selfish, evil man who wanted Miyo to marry into his family to get the Usuba blood in his descendants.
After finding out about his involvement in Miyo’s kidnapping, Minoru was punished by having to declare Kazushi as the household head.
Sumi Usuba
Sumi Usuba belonged to the powerful Usuba family and was the mother of Miyo Saimori. Sumi was born with the gift of Telepathy and Sealing, so her daughter was born with the strongest power, the Dream Sight.
Sumi faced a difficult life and was forcefully married into the Saimori family to control the power of the Usuba family. Fearing her daughter would face life as difficult as hers, she sealed Miyo’s ability in a cherry blossom tree. Unfortunately, she passed away due to sickness when Miyo was little.
Yoshirou Usuba
He was the father of Sumi Usuba and the former head of the Usuba family. He has a stern face but a kind heart, and he apologizes to Miyo for not being there for her. But offers her the family’s support for the future.
