Scum’s Wish Season 2 – What It Will Look Like?

If you’ve just finished watching Scum’s Wish, you’re probably wondering if there is a second season. The anime adaptation of the original manga by Mengo Yokoyari has a somewhat sad story. Hanabi Yasuraoka & Mugi Awaya are forced to use each other as a distraction from their own love interests. Mugi is in love with his music teacher Akane Minagawa, & Hanabi is deeply in love with her teacher Narumi Kanai. Hanabi has known him since she was a child. In this post, we are going to cover what a Scum’s Wish Season 2 will look like and what it would mean for the characters we love in the Anime. So, this is Kuzu No Honkai Season 2 – what will it look like?

If you haven’t or are unsure of the story or Scums Wish the story is quite a strange one. The whole anime produces an unrealistic story that is sometimes relatable in the most realistic way. We mean that the scenes in which we see character & plot development between the two main characters are done in a realistic sort of way.

For example, the sex scenes in the show aren’t in any way over the top and aren’t too erotic. You don’t lose focus of the point of them. Both of the characters are still quite young, and this is evident in the way they are depicted.

The character’s sexuality in the show

Both charters are inexperienced in sex (obviously) and this helps by giving them common ground to be on. As the series progresses we see that both characters seem to develop feelings for each other. Hanabi is the one who expresses them first to Mugi.

The only elements that hold both Mugi and Hanabi back from being with each other romantically are beyond reach. They are the ones they were first invested in. In Hanabi’s case, this is Mr Kanai, and in Mugi’s case, this is Miss Minigawa. It’s important to note that both will most likely return in Kuzu No Honkai Season 2.

During the show, it’s apparent that Hanabi experiments with her sexuality, as she has a brief fling with another character in the Anime called Sanae Ebato. During this time, Hanabi has sexual relations with this character, and just like how Mugi comforted Hanabi, Sanae seems to offer some confinement to the main character, as they share opinions and secrets.

The ending that dissatisfied viewers

So the mainframe of the story is set up, and lots of people were dissatisfied with the ending. They stated that it was not conclusive. They say the writer could have written a much better ending, considering what they had just read. This ending obviously affects how a Scum’s Wish season 2 will look and be set up/structured.

On the other hand, there are many people who agree and support the ending of the anime adaptation. Stating that in their eyes it is a good ending because of the way it is structured.

Many critics, fans & general watchers of the series claim that the series does not have a conclusive ending. This is regarding Mugi and Hanabi’s relationship.

Why is the ending important in regard to Scum’s Wish Season 2?

The ending is important when talking about Scum’s Wish Season 2 because it shows Mugi & Hanabi parting ways & Hanabi says some remarks about how their relationship ended. It is pretty hard to watch because we are frustrated that they did not end up together.

Many people fail to see the reason that they stopped seeing and interacting with each other in the first place. They were just too young to have a proper conventional relationship. And even if they did it most likely would not work out.

This is of course backed up by the fact that each of them has love interests for someone else. It’s the similarity that they both love a teacher, someone they cannot have, that makes their relationship unique.

It is also why they are so close and understand each other. However, their intentions are not admirable or righteous.

When their relationship begins, there are some problems. An example would be their relationship. When Hanabi proposes to Mugi to “start dating for real”, as she calls it, it does not last long. They even go as far as to try and have full intercourse but that doesn’t even work out.

The anime adaption of the Manga

The anime adaption shows the sad reality of fake and unrequited love. It shows both Mugi and Hanabi both getting rejected in the end. The series basically revolves around a contract that Mugi and Hanabi create.

They create it in order to satisfy each other’s sexual and emotional needs. This is since both of them cannot have the one they truly love.

As well as viewing Hanabi and Mugi’s story we also see the perspective of several other characters in the anime. The most infamous of the other characters and arguably the protagonist of the story is Miss Minagawa.

She is in my opinion an obvious sociopath. She sees the world and others in what we would call an undesirable way. She uses certain characters in the series for her own gain. If we were to get a Kuzu No Honkai Season 2 she would stick to her old ways and carry on using people. An adaptation of Kuzu No Honkai season 2 will come when the manga has been written by Mengo Yokoyari.

Mr Kanai in the Anime

It’s important to discuss Mr Kanai because he will most certainly appear in Scum’s Wish Season 2 if there is one. Although the anime seems to depict her changing her ways in the last episode when she marries Mr Kanai.

The spin-off manga called “Kuzu no Honkai décor” shows her attitude hasn’t changed. She says she hasn’t got time for “quickies” and wants to keep her affairs to a high standard.

We do not know if Mugi and Hanabi are aware of this. Regardless the story ends with Hanabi and Mugi deciding not to be together. The explanation for this is that when Mugi and Hanabi were together their love was not genuine.

They only relied on each other for sex and emotional support. Mugi & Hanabi even go as far as to pretend each of them is the one they are in love with.

However, after they both get rejected by the ones they love. You could say it was partly only Hanabi. They realise that they need to find true love and someone who will love them back.

This desire seems to be the reason they don’t end up together. And therefore the story & manga endings are somewhat conclusive. However, only to an extent. This is because we don’t see them end up together. The actual story doesn’t solve any of the problems that arose at the start.

Significance of the spinoff manga to Scum’s Wish Season 2

The spin-off manga known as Kuzu no Honkai décor shows the lives of most of the important characters. It does this after events of the anime and manga.

And in the end panels, we see a half-conclusive ending regarding Hanabi and Mugi’s relationship. The ending of the anime was pretty inconclusive.

Hopes for Scum’s Wish Season 2 in the same timeline (straight after the events of the first manga) are unlikely. This is because the ending was pretty inconclusive.

However, what we can expect (but definitely not guarantee) is an adaption of the spin-off manga. The adaption will pick up sometime after the events of the first anime adaption. Kuzu No Honkai Season 2 will showcase events & characters sometime after the events of the first anime adaptation. Maybe a year or two.

What will Scum’s Wish Season 2 look like?

It’s hard to tell if Scum’s Wish will get another season. However, if it does, we can be certain it will follow very closely the Spin-off manga that we talked about before. Hopefully, Mengo Yokoyari will continue to write more and continue the story of the couple as she finishes what she started regarding Hanabi and Mugi’s relationship.

The end panels of the spin-off manga show both Mugi & Hanabi being reunited at a rock concert. This is where Hanabi is part of the staff team. Mugi tells Hanabi that he is going to improve his life overall & search for an appropriate job. This is so that he can turn his life around.

He then tells Hanabi to “hold off from getting a boyfriend for now” and after this, they hold hands. So in that respect, the spin of manga offers a more, yet still not totally, conclusive ending or explanation.

So, in our opinion, season 2 of Scum’s Wish will be focused on the Spin-off manga and its storyline. Also, since Mengo Yokoyari has not stated that the Spin-off manga will come to an end, we can safely conclude that she intends to carry on the story.

This means we will have a continuation to the end panel of the spin-off manga where Hanabi and Mugi meet again and Mugi tells her to not get a boyfriend while he gets his life back together.

If you weren’t satisfied with the ending of Scum’s Wish please watch this video. We discuss Kuzu No Honkai Season 2 and more.

As of now, that’s all we can say about this story. We hope that again, Lerche Studios decides to take up the role of adapting the spin-off manga. For, let’s just hope that there will be Kuzu No Honkai Season 2.
